ABSTRACT
Results of an experimental program investigating the bearing capacity of cement column in soft clay layer are presented. Six full-scale cement columnss with details representative of current implementation were tested under standard pile load test program for Bangkok soft clay. Of particular interests are their responses, bearing capacities and failure modes. The cement columns were cored after the completion of experiments and coring specimens were tested to find the strength properties. A back calculation based on some theories of bearing capacity of pile was performed and the results were than compared with the experimental ones. It is found that the calculation method for concrete pile can fairly predict the actual bearing capacity of soil-cement columns and their failures are the same as concrete piles.
